During the 9 days between the announcement of the referendum and the voting day, the Greek mainstream media, spearheaded by the private TV broadcasters, conducted unprecedented propaganda in favour of the YES vote, losing in this way the last remaining shred of pretext and appearance of impartiality. They recruited all sorts of yes (wo)men, ranging from local stars loyal to the high bourgeoisie, long-forgotten politicians who had been hiding for years, to all sorts of bourgeois parasites as well as intellectuals of the “Greek culture”. The private TV broadcasters strived to brainwash people by cutting short interviews of people who supported the NO vote, dismissing pensioners who happened to defend the NO vote in ATM queues, bullying the NO voters in TV talk shows, flying wildly the flag of terror and imminent disaster. But to no avail…
