Greece: “The Coast Guard was beating us in order to throw us back into the sea”

Shocking reports about the actions of the Greek Coast Guard that let women and children drown in the sea

Shocking reports about the murderous actions of the Greek Coast Guard presented by survivors of the tragedy in Farmakonisi, who were transferred to Piraeus today.

A father, who reportedly lost his four children and his wife, denounced that, on their attempt to climb on board the Coast Guard boat in order to save themselves, they were being beaten and thrown back into the water by the Coast Guard, while children were swimming helplessly in the sea.

From the first moment, G. Tsarbopoulos, head of the Greek team of the UN’s refugee agency, was by the side of the migrants.

UNHCR was the first to bring to public the migrants’ allegations, as a special team was sent to the island of Leros, where the refugees were initially transported.

In the past, other organisations, such as Amnesty International have denounced the torture, the disappearances and the thefts against refugees seeking protection in Europe by members of the Greek Police and Coast Guard.

It should be remembered that, as the HOT DOC magazine has revealed, the Head of the Greek Police asked his officers to make “life unbearable” to migrants. His order, as it seems, has been followed by his subordinates.
